The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 60 calls for service in the last 24 hours. 7 people were arrested.

Man and Women charged with multiple Gas Drive off Thefts. (CK16000197)

On Sunday January 3rd, 2016, at approximately 10:35am a male driving a black pickup truck with a female passenger left the Petro Canada gas bar located at 104 Chatham Street, South in Blenheim, without paying for the gas they had purchased.

The vehicle was located a short time later occupied by both the male driver and female passenger. The male and female were both subsequently arrested for Theft and Possession. The male driver and female passenger have also been identified and linked to a rash of gas drive off thefts within Blenheim and Chatham. Both have been arrested for 14 counts of Theft and Possession Under $5000. The female party was later released with a future court date. The male party was held pending a bail hearing.

Male arrested for Domestic Assault. (CK16000226)

On January 3rd, 2016, the Chatham-Kent Police Service received information of a possible ongoing domestic abuse.

The victim a 28yr old female from Chatham was located and reported to Police being assaulted multiple times between November 2015 and January 3rd, 2016.

The male accused a 26yr old Chatham man was located a short time later and arrested for 5 counts of Assault, 2 counts of Assault with a weapon and 1 count of Uttering Threats. The male accused was held pending a bail hearing.

Wheatley male arrested for 2 counts of Breach of Undertaking. (CK16000239)

On January 3rd 2016, while Police were investigating the domestic assault in the above mentioned occurrence. The 28yr old female was approached by the accused who began communicating with her. The accused later also attended the Chatham-Kent Police Service with the victim.

Police later learned the accused was bound by way of undertaking from previous domestic related charges not to communicate or be within 250 meters of the victim. The accused was subsequently arrested for 2 counts Breach of undertaking and held for a bail hearing.

Chatham male arrested for Breach of Probation. (CK16000246)

On January 3rd, 2016 Police were dispatched to a residence on Wellington Street in the City of Chatham for a disturbance. Upon arrival Police located the accused who was under the influence of alcohol. Police learned the accused has a Probation Order condition not to buy possess or consume alcohol. As a result the accused was placed under arrest and charged with Breach of Probation and held for a bail hearing.
