Type: Assault with a Weapon

Incident # 16-14765

Date: June 1, 2016

Location: Park Avenue (100 Block)

Incident: On Friday, April 29, 2016 at approximately 1:45 a.m. the accused attended the victims address on Park Avenue and began a verbal dispute with the victim. The dispute escalated to the point where the accused stabbed the victim in the chest and arm with an unknown object. The accused fled the area and the victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Community Patrol Officers were contacted and investigated the incident. The victim was not co-operative with police at the time, however it was known that the incident was not random. BPS Detectives continued to investigate the occurrence and were able to determine the identity of the accused. On Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at approximately 10:35 p.m., a Community Patrol Officer observed the accused in the area of Dalhousie Street and Murray Street and arrested him without incident. As a result, the accused, a 32 year-old Brantford man is charged with Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon, Possession of Schedule 1 Drug x’s 3, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, and Possession of Stolen Property. He was held for a bail hearing.

Date: June 1, 2016

Location: Peel Street (100 Block)

Incident: On Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at approximately 7:00 p.m., the accused attended a business on Peel Street in an intoxicated state. Once inside the business he asked the store owner for $20. When he was denied this, he displayed an approximate 1 foot knife that was held in a leather sheath and wrapped in a bandana. The accused removed the knife from the sheath and exposed the blade. The business owner told the accused to leave the store and the accused complied. Community Patrol Officers were contacted and investigated the incident. The accused was located a short distance away and was arrested without incident. As a result, the accused, a 52 year-old Brantford man is charged with Possession of a Weapon. He was released on a Promise to Appear for a future court date.
