Brantford Crime Briefs – 01Sept2016

Type: Theft From Vehicle

Incident # 16-32482

Date: August 31, 2016

Location: Lorne Crescent (0-100 Block)

Incident: Sometime between 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 and 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 a GMC Van was entered while it was parked in front of a residence on Lorne Crescent. At the time of the investigation tools were reported stolen.

Type: Stolen Vehicle

Incident # 16-32500

Date: August 31, 2016

Location: Fifth Avenue (0-100 Block)

Incident: On Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at approximately 11:30 p.m. Community Patrol Officers were notified that a Chevrolet Tahoe was on fire in a parking lot on Fifth Avenue. Investigation revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Niagara Falls.

Type: Domestic Dispute

Incident # 16-32501

Date: August 31, 2016

Incident: On Monday, September 1, 2016 at approximately 12:30 a.m. a man and a woman, who are in a relationship, returned home and engaged in a verbal dispute. The argument escalated and the man struck the woman in the face causing a cut under her eye. Community Patrol Officers were contacted to assist and the man fled the residence. He was located a short distance away and arrested.

As a result, a 42 year-old Brantford man was charged with assault and held for a bail hearing.

Domestic assaults are criminal offences. Before life stressors escalate to the point of physical violence and threats, the Brantford Police Service encourages men and women who are experiencing difficulties, to take advantage of the services offered in the community.
