Bomb Squad Called For Suspicious Package

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – Huron OPP officers are investigating an attempted mischief after a suspicious package was located beside a rural mailbox on Hawkins Road. Police believe the device was placed beside the mailbox sometime between 3:00 p.m. on January 12, 2013 and 10:00 a.m. on January 13, 2013.

A stop sign that had been removed from the intersection of Hawkins Road and Prosperity Line was also located at the end of the laneway.

Members from the OPP Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU) attended to deal with the package and ensure its safety.

If you discover a suspicious package do not touch the item and call 9-1-1 as soon as possible.
