On July 4, 2009 at approximately 12:30 am Huron OPP officers were following a vehicle northbound on Airport Line in the Municipality of Bluewater when they observed it to be swerving in the lane. Police stopped the vehicle and spoke to the lone female occupant. She had the odour of alcohol on her breath and police observed evidence of alcohol consumption inside the vehicle. The officer read a demand for the driver to provide a roadside sample of her breath and she complied but failed the test. As a result, the driver was arrested and taken to the Huron Detachment where she met with a qualified Intoxilizer Technician to provide two more samples of her breath. The results confirmed that the driver had over the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol when driving her vehicle.
Beth Clarke (34) of Central Huron will be answering to one count of Drive With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and one count of Breach Probation in Goderich Court later this year.
