(TOWN OF FERGUS, ON) On Tuesday May 28, 2013 at approximately 1:40pm Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from a concerned citizen regarding a male wearing a red cape and throwing knives at a tree in Victoria Park in the Town of Fergus.
Police attended the park and observed a male matching the description, throwing knives at a tree near the intersection of St. David St. South and Albert St. West. The male was taken into custody without incident and was found to be in possession of 15 edged weapons – 7 of which were identified as Prohibited Weapons as defined by the Criminal Code. The prohibited weapons are described as 3 Shurikens and 4 Kusaris.
Benjamin Van Huis aged 22 of Fergus has been charged with Adult Unauthorized Possession of Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on Friday July 21, 2013 to answer to the charge.
