Occurrence Type: Threatening with a Knife

Barrie Police Officers were called to residence after two males showed up at the door, one with a knife, threatening to hurt someone if a debt owed wasn’t paid.

On Sunday, October 16th, 2016 at 9:05pm two males attended a residence located on Shelly Lane, in the City of Barrie, looking for a female who owed them some money. One male brandished a small knife and threated the person who opened the door. A brief argument ensued and then the two males fled without anyone getting hurt. It is believed the debt was drug related and the males were known to the victim. The suspect with the knife was located at a residence on Eden Drive just before midnight and placed under arrest. The 22-year-old Barrie male was charged with Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm and Failing to Comply with Probation. He was held for a bail hearing Monday morning.

Date: Saturday, October 15, 2016 – 2:37pm

On Friday, October 14th, 2016 at approximately 2:37pm a 31 year old Barrie female entered the LCBO on Mary Street where she was observed concealing a bottle of liquor in her purse and exiting the store without paying for the item. The female was placed under arrest for theft under $5000 by a Loss Prevention Officer on scene. Prior to police arrival the female became confrontational with the Loss Prevention Officer. Police arrived shortly after and continued the arrest.

The female was already on outstanding charges for the same offences and therefore held at the Barrie Police Service pending a bail hearing.

Date: Saturday, October 15, 2016 – 2:17am

On Saturday, October 15th 2016 at approximately 2:17am, a vehicle was observed proceeding through a red light in the area of Maple Avenue. A traffic stop was conducted at which time Police determined that the 41 year old, male driver had alcohol in his system.

Upon further investigation the male was placed under arrest for impaired operation. The male was also on conditions to abstain from the consumption of alcohol and therefore charged with breaching his undertaking and probation order.

The male was transported to the Barrie Police Service where he is held pending a bail hearing.
