Barrie Police received information that a male who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for assaulting his mother was hiding out at the victim’s residence. The mother of the accused was harbouring him and uncooperative with police.
While conducting a check at the residence, police received information the male had fled out the rear of the residence into a wooded area.
Barrie Police K-9 assisted with tracking the accused, he was located hitchhiking in the South end of Barrie.
A 26 year old Barrie male was arrested on the strength of the outstanding warrant for Assault Cause Bodily Harm and Mischief.
He was held in custody pending a Bail Hearing.

Police were altered by a concerned citizen in regards to a female who was sleeping on a fire escape. Through investigation, it was learned the female resided at the building and wanted to sleep under the stars. Advice was given to all involved parties.

Date: Friday, July 24, 2015 – 8:00pm
Police responded an east end residence after an 18-year old intoxicated female had contacted a telephone support line and threats to the support worker. When police arrived at the residence of the caller she exited the residence and became vociferous with the officers and was placed under arrest for being intoxicated in public and transported to the station.
While being transported to the station, the aggressive young lady continued to yell obscenities at the officer while banging her head of the divider in the cruiser. When being booked at the station she continued he rampage of being uncooperative and aggressive with the officers. She was lodged in the cells and held until sober.

Barrie Police are investigating and assault that occurred at the intersection of Mulcaster and Peel Street on July 24th at approximately 9pm.
The assault occurred when 2 male suspects assaulted the male victim that that was walking with his girlfriend. The suspects fled the scene on foot after they committed the assault. The male victim was treated by EMS and transported to RVH to be treated for minor injuries. The suspects are described as:
Male, White, 5’8”, thin with a round belly, large afro curly blond hair wearing a black shirt.
Male, Black, 5’7”, thin build, 140lbs, possibly braids in hair, wearing a green jersey

Occurrence Type: Motor Vehicle Collision

At approximately 11:50pm, police responded to the intersection of Duckworth Street and Bellfarm Road in regards to a Motor Vehicle Collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle. Witnesses calling 911 advised that the vehicle was on top of the motorcycle and the driver was injured off to the side of the collision.
Officers and EMS arrived on scene and the 30-year old male driver of the motorcycle was transported to RVH to be treated for his injuries. The investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle stuck the motorcycle knocking the driver to the ground and the car came to rest on top of the motorcycle and fortunately knocked the driver off and away from the vehicles.
The driver of the motorcycle was extremely fortunate and was treated for minor injuries. The 19-year old driver of the vehicle blew a warning on an approved screening device and was also charged with Careless Driving.

Around 1130 am Barrie Police were notified by a citizen in regards to a suspicious item that was left roadside in the area of Mapleview Drive and Essa Road. Police responded to the call and found a sealed pressure cooker unattended near the roadway.
Erring on the side of caution, the Explosive Disposal Unit attended, and with the use of the bomb disposal robot, rendered the pressure cooker safe with a disrupter. The substance within was found to be a liquid.
