Occurrence Type: Capsized Boat

Date: Saturday, September 19, 2015 – 10:00am

On Saturday, September 19th, 2015 shortly after 10:00am Police were called to the waters of Kempenfelt Bay, just off the shores of Johnson’s beach, for a capsized boat. There did not appear to be anyone manning the vessel that was almost completely submerged upon Police arrival. The last known registered owner was contacted but advised the boat had been sold many years ago. At this time the current owner is unknown and the boat was towed to the government dock to be held until proper salvage arrangements can be made.

Date: Sunday, September 20, 2015 – 1:10am

On Sunday, September 20th, 2015 at approximately 1:20 am Police and EMS were called to 106 Dunlop Street East, in the City of Barrie, regarding a male who put himself through a large window pane. A 24 year old intoxicated male became angry at another male’s advancements towards his girlfriend and then smashed a store front window with his head causing large cuts to himself. He then became combative with Police and EMS who were attempting to assist him by resisting aid and spitting blood.

The male was taken to RVH for treatment and then to the Barrie Police Service where he again used his head to smash the outside of the Police cruiser causing damage.

The male was released with a future court date for charges of two counts of mischief and one count of cause disturbance.

Date: Friday, September 18, 2015 – 5:25pm

On Friday September 18th, 2015 at 5:25pm a King City resident was driving along Hart Drive in Barrie. He stopped then started to reverse striking another car that was behind him. Damage was minor to both vehicles.

The police were called and it was found the driver had alcohol on his breath. He failed a roadside test and was arrested for driving over the legal limit. The SPCA were contacted to look after the drivers dog that was in the truck so he could be taken in for tests. Readings were almost twice the legal limit.

He was released to a future court date with a 90 day license suspension and a 7 day vehicle impoundment.

Date: Friday, September 18, 2015 – 6:00pm

On Friday September 18th, 2015, about 6pm Barrie Police received a call to a Hart Drive hotel for an unwanted guest. Officers attended and investigated a male who was staying in a room with another party but was no longer welcome. As a result of their investigation it was determined the male was wanted on a number of outstanding warrants for failing to appear in court. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing.

Date: Friday, September 18, 2015 – 10:00am

On April 24th, 2014, an arrest warrant was issued for a 32-year-old, Barrie, male who had been identified as the suspect in a robbery of a Barrie taxi cab driver.

The 46-year-old, victim had been robbed of personal belongings while transporting the suspect just before 1:00 a.m. The victim did not sustain any physical injuries following the incident.

Throughout the investigation the suspect fled Ontario and took up residency Kelowna, British Columbia. The suspect eventually attracted the attention of police in British Columbia, and was arrested for unrelated drug charges and placed into custody.

The Barrie Police Service Warrant Unit was advised of the arrest and on Thursday, September 17, 2015, Barrie Police attended Kelowna, British Columbia and arrested a 32-year-old male.

The suspect will appear in a Barrie bail court Friday morning.
