Occurrence Type: Break and Enter

Date: Sunday, October 18, 2015 – 1:45am

On Sunday, October 18, 2015, at 1:45 a.m., police responded to a break and enter that had occurred on County Road 27, City of Barrie.

The suspect(s) damaged the hydro meter in efforts to defeat the alarm; however the power failure triggered the alarm.

The suspect(s) entered the premise and stole a quantity of Canadian currency. The investigation is ongoing.

Occurrence Type: Impaired driving

Date: Sunday, October 18, 2015 – 1:00am

On October 18, 2015 at approximately 1am Barrie Police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision in the area of County Road 27 and Essa Rd. A witness had advised officers that a male driver had crashed his car into the ditch and was leaving the area on foot. The witness attempted to keep an eye on the driver and informed officers who arrived on scene that he had run into a wooded area close by. Officers conducted a dog track with the assistance of the Barrie Police Canine Unit and subsequently located the male driver a short distance away from his vehicle. It became evident the male was intoxicated by alcohol and he was arrested for impaired driving.

A breath test was conducted and the driver’s readings were found to be nearly double the legal limit.

Date: Sunday, October 18, 2015 – 5:00am

On October 18, 2015 at approximately 5am police were called to attend a north end street after receiving a noise complaint regarding a vehicle parked with music playing very loudly. Officers located the vehicle with the stereo still playing and a male passed out in the driver’s seat with a beer can in his hand. The male was arrested for impaired care and control of a motor vehicle and transported to the Barrie Police Service to provide samples of his breath. The male’s readings were found to be twice the legal limit.

Date: Saturday, October 17, 2015 – 1:00am

On Saturday October 17, 2015 just after 1:00am police observed a vehicle being driven erratically down Dunlop Street East. Police conducted a traffic stop and determined that they believed the driver had been drinking.

A 26 year old male from Angus was subsequently arrested. The male was transported to the Barrie Police Station where it was determined he had twice the legal limit of alcohol. He was charged with driving with over 80mg of alcohol.

Furthermore, his driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for 7 days.

The male was later released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Barrie court this month.
