Theft Leads To Assault

On Sunday, November 29, 2015, around 4:30 pm, Police responded to Shoppers Drug Mart located on Wellington Street, in the City of Barrie, for a theft. A male suspect had been arrested by security for theft of two watches.

While enroute police received another call stating the male in custody had assaulted the security officer and another employee, and was out of control. Upon arrival officers had to intervene the altercation and restrain the male. As a result of the altercation, the security officer and store employee received minor injuries.

The 21-year old Barrie was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and two counts of assault. He was held for bail and will appear in a Barrie court Monday morning.

On Sunday, November 29th, 2015 around 2:30 pm Police attended Walmart located on Bayfield Street, in the City of Barrie after receiving a report of a theft in progress.

Upon arrival police were advised a male and female had filled up several reusable shopping bags with merchandise and left the store without making any attempt to pay for the items.

A 35-year-old male and 30-year-old female from Barrie were arrested and charged with theft under $5,000. They were both released on an appearance notice and will appear in court in December.
