On Sunday, February 7, 2016 police were called to an address on Nelson Street for a disturbance, just after 3:00 a.m.

Upon arrival police were berated by a large group of people who had been having a party inside the residence and were now outside, and highly intoxicated. Several fights had broken, which was later diffused by police. A 35-year-old male was charged under the Barrie noise by-law.

Video surveillance assisted police in identifying a male who had been using counterfeit money in the downtown core. A downtown establishment contacted police after the male had purchased a $3.00 item and paid for it using a counterfeit Canadian $50.00 bill.

Police caught up with him and arrested the 47-year-old Barrie male for possession of counterfeit money, using counterfeit money, fail comply with recognizance and possession of a controlled substance.

The male was held for bail and will appear in a Barrie court on Monday.
