Occurrence Type: Seeking Witnesses To A Dog Attack

On Sunday, February 28, just before 9:00 a.m., a 31-year-old Barrie male was attacked by a dog while walking in the area of Georgian Drive and Penetanguishine Road, in the City of Barrie.
The victim received injuries to his right foot and was treated at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre and later released.
Police are still unable to locate the dog or its owner. The Barrie SPCA has been notified of the incident, and can ensure the public there have been no recent cases of rabies reported in the City of Barrie.
The dog is described as;
German Shepherd with long hair, possibly mixed breed
Black and Tan in color

On the 27th of February 2016 at approximately 11:00PM, Barrie Police responded to a disturbance call to a downtown apartment building. Officers arrived on scene and located the involved parties in the 5th floor hallway. Officers located a female victim who had been assaulted by a 38 year old male, causing major swelling around the victim’s eye. The accused was taken into custody, and the victim was attended to by ambulance and transported to RVH for medical treatment. Further investigation revealed that the accused was also bound by two separate probation orders and was breaching conditions of those orders. The accused was subsequently charged with assault causing bodily harm, and two counts of fail to comply with probation. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

On the 27th of February 2016 at approximately 9:10PM, Barrie Police attended a Bradford Street residence regarding reports of a possible domestic incident. Officers attended the scene and conducted an investigation resulting in a 51 year old male being arrested for assault and uttering threats to cause death against his common law spouse. The accused was transported to the Barrie Police Headquarters where he was held pending a bail hearing.

On the 27th of February 2016 at approximately 11:15PM, Barrie Police were dispatched to a north end address regarding youths attempting to gain entry into a home and threatening to harm a resident inside. Officers attended the area and located three male youths in the area matching the descriptions of the suspects. Police commenced in investigation resulting in one male youth being charged for breach of undertaking for failing to comply with Court imposed curfew, and a second male youth was arrested, charged, and released for being in possession of a prohibited weapon, which was a knife that falls within the description of a prohibited weapon under the Criminal Code. The youth that was found to be breaching his conditions of release was held pending a bail hearing.

During the evening hours of Friday February 26 and the early morning hours of Saturday February 27, 2016, Barrie Police conducted a R.I.D.E program at various locations within the City. As a result nearly 400 vehicles were stopped resulting in two drivers being arrested for impaired driving and being over the legal limit. Two drivers blew warnings and a 7 day drivers licence suspension was issued. Another 2 drivers were charged with operating a motor vehicle without insurance and 2 drivers were charged with driving while suspended.
Barrie Police would like to remind everyone not to drink and drive.

In the evening hours of Friday February 26, 2016, Barrie Police attended a Henry Street address for a theft complaint. During their investigation Police came across a male party who was wanted on Warrants for Breaching conditions of his Recognizance and Failing to re-attend Court. As a result a 28 year old Barrie man was arrested on the outstanding warrants and returned to the Barrie Police Station where he was held pending a Bail Hearing.
