Occurrence Type: Child Pornography investigation

On the 24th of April 2015, Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit commenced an investigation regarding online activity of child pornography. As part of the investigation police executed a search warrant at a Barrie home on the 23 of June. Police determined that a male, 38 years of age, was in possession of child pornography. The male was arrested and charged for 2 counts of possession of child pornography. The male was held pending a bail hearing.

The investigation will now require an examination of computers seized to provide further insight into the accused activities on-line.

Barrie Police ICE Unit is a partner within Ontario’s “Provincial Strategy” to protect children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the internet. This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.

Date: Tuesday, June 23, 2015 – 3:00pm

A 36 year old male was stopped on a E- Bike in the cities downtown core Tuesday morning for his erratic driving. While speaking with the driver, officers discovered he was currently on conditions by the courts not to operate any motor vehicle as defined by the Criminal Code for previous driving offences. He was arrested and charged with breaching his conditions and driving while disqualified. He was held for a bail hearing.
