Occurrence Type: Sparks Catch Beat Officers Attention

Date: Sunday, August 9, 2015 – 3:00pm

On Saturday, August 8, 2015 shortly after, 3:00 a.m., while on foot patrol downtown, CORE Unit officers observed a vehicle travelling on only three wheels.

The vehicle had been travelling eastbound on Dunlop Street, and could be seen from miles away as a result of sparks igniting from rear tire, which was flat.

Officers were able to stop the vehicle at five points. The male driver had displayed many signs of impairment while speaking to officers.

The 60-year-old, Orillia male, was arrested for impaired driving, and his vehicle impounded for seven days. He was transported to the Barrie Police Station, at which time he provided a breath sample and blew over the legal limit. He was further charged with over 80.

Once sober, the male was released on a promise to appear and will appear in a Barrie Court at the end of August.

Occurrence Type: Assault With A Weapon

Date: Monday, August 10, 2015 – 2:30pm

On Monday, August 10, 2015, at 2:30 p.m., police responded to the area of Maple Avenue and Dunlop Street, City of Barrie, after receiving a call that a male had been stabbed.

Upon arrival police located a 37-year-old, Brampton male, who had a visible puncture wound on his right shoulder. The male was taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Care Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Further investigation has led police to believe that an argument between the victim and several parties quickly escalated and as a result the victim was stabbed.

Police are continuing the investigation. A 23-year-old, Barrie female and a 26-year-old, Toronto male have been identified as suspects.
