A 29-year-old Barrie male applied for a loan in late October and was approved for a large sum of money, pending he provided a security deposit of over $900. The male complied but was then told by the company his approval was declined and would only be approved if another deposit of over $900 was provided. At this time the male advised the company he did not wish to proceed with the loan and requested his initial deposit to be returned. To this date, he has been unable to have the deposit returned and is unable to reach anyone at the company to ratify the situation.

Police are continuing with their investigation at this time but would like to remind citizens to use caution when any person or company requests money to be sent via email transfer, money order or similar means before receiving a quantity of money or prize.
