Occurrence Type: Shop Theft Plan Back-Fires

On Wednesday, January 13, 2016 just after 9:00 p.m., police responded to a theft at Walmart located at, 35 Mapleview Drive West, in the City of Barrie.
Upon arrival police arrested a 34-year-old Barrie female for theft under $5,000. The female had been observed by loss prevention officers selecting various household items and placing them into a shopping cart.
The female then made her way to the front of the store and abandoned her shopping cart near the front exit and left. Moments later she returned and took the shopping cart that had still been filled with items, and quickly exited the store.
Loss prevention officers quickly apprehended the female before she could flee the area and contacted police.
The 34-year-old female was released on an appearance notice and will appear in a Barrie court in February 2016.
Occurrence Type: Stolen Vehicle

On Wednesday, January 13, 2016, just after 10:00 a.m., Barrie Police attended a residence on MacMillan Cres, in the City of Barrie to investigate a vehicle that had been stolen overnight.
With the assistance of O.P.P, further investigation found the vehicle had been involved in a collision on Highway 400 near Innisfil Beach Road, just after 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning. The suspect was located at the scene of the collision and transported to Royal Victoria Regional Health Center with minor injuries.
Upon being released from hospital the 23-year-old Toronto male was arrested and charged with breach of probation and will appear in bail court Friday morning.
Owners of the vehicle were notified and vehicle damage is to be estimated at a later date.
Occurrence Type: Take Auto Without Consent Leads to Multiple Charges

On Wednesday, January 13, 2015 Police were called to Shoppers Drug Mart located at 165 Wellington Street West in regards to a shoplifter who had left the store with multiple items but was still sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot. Police attended and located the male in a vehicle that belonged to his girlfriend. He was also in possession of a pair of headphones, a bottle of Vichy Aqualia and an electric toothbrush, totaling over $185.00, which all were stolen from the Shoppers Drug Mart.
Further Police investigation uncovered two driving suspensions in good standing from 2014 and upon speaking to his girlfriend, Police became aware he did not have permission to use her vehicle. He was also on a Probation Order from previous criminal charges.
The 34 year old Angus man was charged with Take Auto Without Consent, Theft Under $5000, Fail to Comply with Probation and Drive While Disqualified. He was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date Monday, February 29, 2016 to answer to his charges.
