Occurrence #: BA16054707
Date: Monday, October 31, 2016 – 6:15pm
Barrie Police on general patrol came across a driver blatantly disregarding the rules of the road and putting many citizens at risk during the busiest time on one of the busiest nights of the year for Barrie streets.
On Monday, October 31st, 2016 at 6:15pm police observed a silver Honda Civic travelling northbound on St. Vincent Street, in the City of Barrie, at a rate of speed over 105 km/hour. The vehicle made a sudden lane change without signaling and then accelerated very rapidly again as it approached the bridge over the 400 highway. As the vehicle approached the intersection at Cundles Road East the vehicle slowed for traffic and moved into the right turn lane but then abruptly made a left turn onto Cundles Rd East followed by an immediate left turn onto Ferris Lane. When the vehicle turned onto Ferris Lane police were able to safely catch up and a traffic stop was initiated.
Once speaking to the driver it was evident he was under the influence of alcohol. He failed to provide police with the required documents for driving his vehicle and then failed a road side screening test for impaired driving. He was transported back to the Barrie Police Service where he blew well over the legal limit. When the male’s car was seized and inventoried for tow an unmarked package of cigarettes were located adding to his list of charges.
