Occurrence Type: Mischief and Weapons Dangerous

On Wednesday, March 16th, 2016 at 6:30pm Police received multiple calls from different apartments at 14 Worsley Street, in the City of Barrie, in regards to a male who was trying to break in. The male had exited the balcony of one unit on the second floor, scaling and jumping to the balcony below. He then smashed the sliding door of that unit, cutting his arm significantly. Callers stated the male appeared to be paranoid and maybe on drugs.

Police arrived on scene within two minutes of receiving the calls for help and located the male on the balcony waving around a knife. Some strategic communication and persuasion convinced the male to surrender to Police and seek medical attention for his arm. He was arrested and taken immediately to Royal Victoria Regional Health Center to receive multiple stitches before being taken back to the Barrie Police Service. The 43 year old Barrie male was charged with Mischief Under $5000 and Weapons Dangerous. He spent the rest of the night in Barrie Police custody to face a judge Thursday morning for his bail hearing.

Occurrence Type: The Love For Scotch Leads To Arrest

On Wednesday, March 16, 2016 police responded to a call for a theft at the LCBO located on Mary Street, in the City Barrie.

Upon arrival loss prevention officers had a male in custody for theft under $5,000. The male had been observed selecting two bottles of scotch and placing them into his coat pocket. He quickly left the store without making any attempt to pay for the items, but was stopped and arrested by the loss prevention officers.

The 45-year-old Barrie male was turned over to police and charged with theft under $5,000 and released on an appearance notice and will appear in a Barrie court in April.
