On the 8th of May 2015, a member of the Barrie Police Service Intelligence unit was conducting an investigation into recent break and enters in the south end of the city. At 12:30 am a suspicious truck was observed entering a business on Welham road that sold granite rock material. The officer monitored as the suspects loaded slabs of granite into the box of the truck.

The truck was followed to a residence on Country Lane where the suspects unloaded the stolen granite into the garage. The officer continued the investigation and a search warrant was granted to enter the garage and seize the stolen granite. A 28 year old Barrie man was arrested at the residence. The property was returned to the owner. The male will appear in court to answer to the charges.

Date: Thursday, May 7, 2015 – 7:00pm

A 27 year old Barrie man is in custody after turning himself in following a domestic related assault that occured on the 7th of May. The victim, the arrested male’s common-law spouse, attended the Barrie Police Station after the fact to report being head-butted in the nose during an argument over alcohol and finances. The female victim suffered minor injuries as a result. The male was charged with assault and held in custody pending a bail hearing on the 9th of May.
