On May 26th, 2015 at approx. 1720Hrs, The Barrie Police responded to a motor vehicle collision at Big Bay Point and Welham Road. Two vehicles were involved in the accident and both had considerable damage.; luckily, there were no injuries.

The Barrie Police Service is reminding the public to exercise caution after confirming the presence of at least one bear in the area of Fairview Road and Big Bay Point Road. Throughout the day, police received three separate calls from citizens regarding the bear.
Barrie Police have notified the Ministry of Natural Resources of the incident.

Barrie Police Service are investigating a single motor vehicle collision involving a car striking a hydro pole at Blake and Nelson St. When officers responded, the unknown driver had fled the scene. A follow up investigation revealed that the vehicle involved was stolen. Police continue their efforts to identify and locate the driver.
As a result of this accident, Blake St. will be closed between Nelson St. and Vancouver Street until approx. noon while Hydro conducts the necessary repairs to the pole.
