(HURON EAST, ON) – Members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the assistance of West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), West Region Canine and West Region Tactics & Rescue Unit (TRU) are currently on scene of a barricaded person incident in Vanastra.
Early this morning at approximately 1:00 a.m. Huron OPP and paramedics from Huron County Paramedic Services responded to the subject’s residence located on Vanastra Road. While interacting with the adult male safety concerns arose for all involved parties. As a result police decided to contain the residence and activate specialized units.
A section of Vanastra Road between Front Road and Halifax Road is currently closed.
Huron OPP is asking the public to avoid this area until the situation is resolved.
This investigation is ongoing; further information will be provided as it becomes available.
