(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On February 16, 2011 shortly after midnight Perth County OPP officers were called to a distressed individual at a residence on York Ave. North in Listowel.
Upon police arrival a 28 year old male was found to be barricaded in the basement. The male refused to cooperate with police and threatened to cause harm to himself. Officers cordoned off the area around the residence and the OPP Western Region Emergency Response Team and the OPP Western Region Tactics and Rescue Unit and OPP Western Region Crisis negotiators attended the scene.
Shortly after 6 a.m. the man was taken into custody without incident. He will be transported to Stratford Police who have existing arrest warrants for him.
At no time was there any threat or danger to neighbouring residences.
