Barefoot Driver Emerges From Swamp And Surrenders To Police – Alcohol A Factor

(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On March 17, 2016 at approximately 11:01 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle that had registered a radar speed of 130 km/hr in an 80 km/hr zone on Hwy. 21 west of Hwy. 6 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs. Once stopped, the lone driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot into a swamp area. The OPP Canine Unit together with the Emergency Response Team (ERT) assisted in the search for the driver.

Shortly after 1:00 a.m., March 18th, the driver emerged from the swamp and approached an OPP cruiser parked on Hwy. 21. The driver was not wearing any socks or shoes. Alcohol was a factor.

Grey County Paramedics (EMS) examined the driver at the scene who was then transported to hospital as a precaution for hypothermia.

27-year old Brandon MACDONALD of Tara was issued Part III Summonses for the following offences:

– Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence (HTA)

– Drive Motor Vehicle – Stunt Driving – Speeding by 50km/hr or more (HTA)

– Drive Motor Vehicle – No Currently Validated Permit (HTA)

– Owner Operate Motor Vehicle – No Insurance (CAIA)

His driver’s licence was suspended and his vehicle, a 2012 Honda, was impounded.

He is scheduled to appear in court on May 9, 2016 in Owen Sound.
