ATV Collision Traps Impaired Driver

Occurrence Type: ATV Collision

Occurrence #: BA16010232

Date: Monday, February 29, 2016 – 8:50pm

On Monday, February 29, 2016, just before 9:00 p.m., Barrie Police responded to a single motor vehicle collision involving an ATV on Little Lake Drive, in the City of Barrie. The vehicle had flipped over, trapping the driver underneath.

Upon arrival police located the male attempting to flee the scene on J.C. Massey Way. He had freed himself from beneath the vehicle, although he was impaired.

The driver provided police with a breath sample, which resulted in a 3-day licence suspension.

Impaired driving, by drug or alcohol, is a senseless and preventable crime that continues to destroy the lives of innocent people every day. When you drink or use drugs and drive you not only risk your life and those of your passengers, but the lives of every other driver and pedestrian on the road.
