(BLUEWATER, ON) – Huron OPP officers are investigating an attempted theft of a GM Pickup from a residence located on Nelson Street in Bluewater, ON. Unknown suspect(s) entered the unlocked pickup truck between midnight on January 3, 2012 and 1:00 a.m. on January 4, 2012. The vehicle was found with damage to the ignition and the dash area below the steering wheel. Huron OPP is providing some “Lock it or lose it†tips to help prevent vehicle theft:
Always roll up the windows, then lock the doors and pocket the key
Never leave the vehicle unattended while its running
If you have a garage, use it. Lock the door as well as the vehicle
Always park in a well lit area
Never leave the keys easily accessible or in plain view
