Attempted Fraud – $80,000 Transport Load – Protect Your Online Identity

(SOUTH BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – On January 5th, 2011 at 2:14 pm, the South Bruce OPP was called to a residence in the Municipality of Kincardine for an attempted theft complaint.

The caller operates a trucking business, the freight deliveries are arranged online by freight brokers which are assigned to freight carriers. The caller discovered that someone is bidding on loads, valued at more than $80,000, using his company name.

The South Bruce OPP is recommending that legitimate business owners run periodic internet searches to safe guard their company name. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the South Bruce OPP or Crime Stoppers.
