On June 5, 2015, the London Police Service received a complaint from an employer regarding a suspicious document that the employer thought was altered. A prospective employee had submitted what appeared to be a Police Vulnerable Sector Check issued by the London Police Service. Upon further investigation, it is alleged that the accused had altered the Police Vulnerable Sector Check. A 52-year-old woman was charged with uttering a forged document and attempt fraud as a result of this investigation.
The London Police Service would like to remind volunteer organizations and employers to remain vigilant in examining these documents closely for any apparent alterations. The original document is embossed with the London Police seal and marked “Not valid unless embossed with the London Police Seal”. Anyone suspicious that a document has been altered can call the London Police Service at 519 661-5670 to report it.
