On Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 2:03 p.m. police were contacted about a possible sighting in the Nith River of missing boy Robbie Reiner. Police and fire fighters from New Hamburg and Cambridge responded to the area. Cambridge Fire Department launched a boat and searched the 5 km area between Holland Mills Road and Huron Road for several hours without success. The search was suspended at approximately 8 p.m. as daylight was lost. Police and emergency partners are planning additional search efforts once search conditions improve. At this time, the water levels remain high and the volume of the debris along with residual ice are creating a hazard and risk the safety of searchers. Police urge the public not to approach the river, but report any information that could assist in locating Robbie.
