Occurrence Type: Assault with a weapon arrest

On Wednesday afternoon at approximately 3:26pm, officers responded to a reported fight in front of the Worsley St. library. Upon arrival they spoke with a 24 year old female who claimed that she was assaulted by another female armed with a cane. The victim did not require medical treatment. A 33 year old Barrie female was arrested a short distance away. She was taken to the station where she was charged with assault with a weapon. The accused will remain in custody pending a bail hearing.
