Police were called to a downtown shelter for an assault that had occurred against the staff. When police arrived they were informed that a male had become upset with staff members. The male became violent and backed the staff into a corner. He then removed a 3 foot piece of chain with a pad lock on the end and swung it wildly at the staff members striking one of them in the head.
The male then fled the shelter but was located a short distance away by police. A 37 year old Orillia male was arrested for assault with a weapon. He was held for bail
The staff member was taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
