Assault In Port Elgin – Two Charged

Saugeen Shores Police Service is investigating an assault that took place on December 1, 2015 in Port Elgin. The incident was reported to police on December 2, 2015. A 21 year-old Saugeen Shores male was assaulted in the parking lot of a restaurant on Goderich Street. The victim was later treated at hospital and released.

Saugeen Shores Police have arrested two persons responsible for the assault. An adult male and a male youth both from Arran Township, are charged and appearing in court on December 3rd. The accused cannot be identified due to provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Saugeen Shores Police received assistance from OPP Command Post Vehicle, West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), OPP Canine Unit, OPP Negotiators and the South Bruce OPP Crime Unit in effecting the arrests.

The investigation is continuing. There are no public safety concerns at this time.
