Thursday morning police attended a Wellington St. E. residence in response to a reported assault. Upon arrival the officers discovered that a 19 year old male was sitting at the kitchen table with a friend. At that time a 19 year old female entered the shared kitchen. A verbal dispute escalated between the two and the female picked up a metal soup ladle and proceeded to strike the male in the head with the weapon. As the male stood to protect himself he was kicked in the leg and punched in the jaw. The male victim was taken to the hospital where he received several stitches. The female was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and two counts of breach of probation. She was released with conditions
