On March 11, 2015 at 10:23 a.m. Waterloo Regional Police and the Kitchener Fire Department responded to 266 Kingsway Drive, Kitchener for a reported fire. A 62 year old Kitchener male is alleged to have set a fire on the balcony. Burning materials were dropped from a window. Upon arrival of witnesses and firefighters, the male is alleged to have made threats involving a firearm. The male barricaded himself in his apartment while police negotiated with him. Police eventually made entry into the apartment and arrested the man without incident. The male was held for a bail hearing and is charged with 2 counts of uttering threats, arson – disregard for life and breach probation.
