Arrests Made In Home Invasion

On Thursday June 16, 2016 just shortly before 6:00pm, Detectives along with members of the Emergency Response Unit, Heat Unit, Canine Unit and Uniform Patrol arrested and charged two (2) men with numerous criminal offences in relation to this crime. During this time a loaded firearm was also seized.

CHARGED: Mark Woolery-Surgeon, a 26 year old man of Hamilton

CHARGES:

Break and Enter – Commit,

Use Firearm or Imitation During Commission of Offence,

Point Firearm,

Fail to Comply with Probation x 4,

Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Order x 3 (Section 117.01(3) of the Criminal Code of Canada)

CHARGED: Schakeil Nixon, a 19 year old man from Hamilton

CHARGES:

Break and Enter – Commit

Use Firearm or Imitation During Commission of Offence,

Possess Prohibited Firearm,

Unauthorized Possession of Firearm,

Careless Use of a Firearm

Carry Concealed Weapon,

Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Order (Section 117.01(3) of the Criminal Code of Canada),

Fail to Comply with Probation order x 2

Both men remain in custody with their bail being opposed.

The vehicle, a red Cadillac was also located and had since been seized.

One suspect remains outstanding. He is described as,

Male, white, approximately 18 years of age, 5’6” tall, light coloured curly hair, wearing light clothing and carrying a knapsack

Background

On Thursday, June 16, 2016 just after 6:00 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to a report of 3 males who broke into a targeted home on Barton Street East, near Fruitland Road, while the homeowner was present, then fled in a vehicle. The single male occupant suffered minor injuries. At this time, a cell phone is being reported as missing. The male victim is being cooperative with police during this investigation.

Suspects are described as:

#1 Male, black, approximately 30 years of age, 5’10” tall, medium build, short black hair, and wearing black track pants and a black hoodie.

#2 Male, black, approximately 20 years of age, 5’8” tall, medium build, short black hair and wearing dark clothing.

#3 Male, white, approximately 18 years of age, 5’6” tall, light coloured curly hair, wearing light clothing and carrying a knapsack

Vehicle described as:

– Newer model red Cadillac sedan

– A 4th person was seen with the vehicle. They were described as a male, black. No further descriptions were available.
