On September 30, 2015 the Guelph Police were involved in an investigation into two Guelph residents committing thefts from stores in the Toronto and Mississauga area and reselling the items here in Guelph. That investigation led to their arrest and the seizure of over $3,000 worth of stolen property.
Update:
On October 1, 2015 the Guelph Police executed a search warrant at their Greengate Road home. Police seized close to $40,000 worth of stolen clothing and a small quantity of Marihuana.
Thi Tuyet Nhung HOANG (F), 41 years of Guelph was charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime. She has now been further charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and possession of a controlled substance. She will appear in court on October 20, 2015.
Cuong Nguyen (M), 47 years of Guelph was charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime. He has now been further charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and possession of a controlled substance. He will appear in court on October 20, 2015.
Pellet gun shots fired – arrest made
On October 2, 2015 at 1:40 a.m., the Guelph Police went to the Silvercreek Parkway area to investigate the report of a male shooting at another male with a pellet gun. It is alleged that the victim was approached by the unknown man and they entered into a verbal altercation. The altercation turned physical when the gun was pulled and fired at the victim several times before the suspect fled the area on foot.
Police located the man nearby and found him to be in possession of a loaded pellet gun and he was arrested. There were no injuries as a result of this incident.
A 26-year-old Guelph man has been charged with point firearm, carry a concealed weapon, weapons dangerous and breach of probation order. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Transportation fraud – arrest
On October 2, 2015 at 1:58 a.m., the Guelph Police went to Silvercreek Parkway South after a cab company called reporting an issue with a fare. It is alleged that the male failed to pay his fare. Police located the man and he was arrested. A search subsequent to his arrest discovered a sword in a wooden sheath and a small quantity of Marihuana. Further investigation determined that he was also wanted on charges by the O.P.P.
A 32-year-old male of no fixed address has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, transportation fraud, breach of prohibition order, breach of probation and possession of a controlled substance. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on October 2, 2015.
Break and enter
On October 1, 2015 at 6:55 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Marilyn Drive building to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) pried the door to the garbage room sometime overnight to gain entry. No theft is reported in this incident.

Garage Fire at 153 Deerpath Drive

On October 1, 2015 at 7:46 p.m., the Guelph Fire Department responded to a reported fire at 153 Deerpath Drive. Units from the Guelph Fire Department arrived to a residential home and found a small fire located in the garage area.
The fire was quickly brought under control and subsequently extinguished. There was minor damage to the attached garage with light smoke extension to the home.
There were no reports of injuries to Firefighting personnel however a resident was treated by GWEMS for smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire along with an estimate of damage is still under investigation by Fire Prevention.
Also on scene in support were GPS, GWEMS and Union Gas.
