Members of the HEAT unit while on patrol in the downtown core noticed a male exit a licenced establishment. The male made his way to a vehicle parked on the roadway and proceeded to drive away.

The vehicle was stopped for investigation and the officers detected a strong odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. The male indicated that he was intending to go back to work after his lunch. As a result of failing the roadside screening device, the male was arrested for Driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in his blood.

He was taken to the station where he provided breath samples that were almost 3 times the legal limit. His licence was suspended for 90 days, vehicle impounded for 7 day and after a long rest at the station, he was released with a court date in the near future.
