On the 18th of January 2014, a male attempted to steal food from a downtown grocery store. His actions were observed by store security who attempted to apprehend the male. The male assaulted the security officer and fled the scene. The incident was captured on the store video. On the 27th of January, a Barrie police officer observed the male on Dunlop St. He was arrested without incident, during the investigation the male provided a false name. Through investigation he was properly identified. The 23 year old Alliston resident now faces charges of theft under, assault, obstruct police and fail to comply probation. He was released by way of a promise to appear.
