Late Thursday evening an off duty police officer observed a male rummaging through cars in the Joseph Crescent area. The officer attempted to apprehend the male who fled the area on foot. Uniform officers arrived in the area and located the male a short time later. The male was found to be in possession of other small items that were obviously taken from vehicles. A 16 year old Barrie youth is being held in custody on charges of attempt theft, possession under $5,000.00 and fail to comply probation. He will be in bail court Friday morning.
