Armed Robbery In Mount Forest

(WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP, ON.) –On February 3, 2015 at approximately 11:45 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a report of a robbery involving a firearm that occurred on Elgin Street, Mount Forest. The investigation revealed that two males known to each other met in a vehicle at a parking lot and a handgun was pointed at the one male.

Cash and a cell phone were handed over. It was also revealed that the vehicle used was taken without permission from the vehicle owner and the driver was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle by court order. Two other court orders were also being breached involving outstanding criminal charges.

With the assistance of Guelph Police Service, an arrest was made in Guelph in the early morning hours on February 4, 2015 without incident.

Wellington County Crime Unit, Street Crime Unit (SCU) and uniform officers continued to investigate and obtained a search warrant on February 4, 2015 for a residence on Southgate Road 10, Southgate Township, Grey County. Officers seized without incident; ammunition, stolen licence plates, and suspected marijuana. The firearm has not been located and police continue to investigate.

Robbery with Firearm- Criminal Code (C.C.)
Take Motor Vehicle without Consent- C.C.
Theft Under $5000- C.C.
Driving while Disqualified- C.C.
Failure to Comply with Undertaking X 2- C.C.
Possession of Property obtained by crime- C.C.
Possession of marihuana over 30 grams- Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

He was scheduled for a bail hearing on February 5, 2015
