Armed Fleeing Suspect Crashes – Airlifted To Hospital

The Barrie Police Service continues to investigate a serious motor vehicle collision involving a stolen motorcycle. Prior to the accident, the male suspect committed a break and enter at a nearby residence. Various items were taken from the break and enter; including a shotgun. The suspect then fled on a stolen motorcycle. While fleeing the scene, he lost control of the motorcycle and collided with a residential home. Various Emergency Services responded to the accident scene.

The suspect was originally transported to the RVH, however, due to the seriousness of his injuries, he was airlifted to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. At the time of the incident the suspect had no identifcation on his person.

Investigators from the Barrie Police Criminal Investigations Branch continued the investigation well into the evening hours. Officers were able to establish the identity of the male and are awaiting an opportunity to speak to the suspect when his medical condition improves. He is currently in serious- but stable condtion.

It is anticipated that he will face a lengthy list of Criminal and Provincial charges.

Police are not looking for any other suspects in this matter.
