Friday November 7th, 2014, Waterloo Regional Police and Paramedics, and Kitchener firefighters responded to an apartment building in the area of Queen Street and Courtland Avenue in Kitchener. Smoke was billowing from a second floor unit. All residents evacuated safely. A few residents suffered minor smoke inhalation. They were treated by paramedics. Damage to the apartment was extensive. The cause of the fire was deemed to be accidental.
