(WALKERTON, ON) Members of the South Bruce Detachment of Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) under the direction of Detective Inspector Chris Gilpin of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch have made an arrested in relation to the murder of Christine Harron in 1993.
Christine Harron was 15 years of age when she was reported missing by her family in May of 1993 to the Hanover Police Service. The OPP Criminal Investigation Branch became involved when they were asked to assist with the investigation by the South Bruce Grey Police Service (Formerly Hanover PS) in 1999.
In 2004, the accused was charged with First Degree Murder however the charges were stayed by the Crown in 2006.
In 2010 Detective Inspector Gilpin, with the assistance of the South Bruce Detachment Crime Unit continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of Christine Harron.
Today after an extensive investigation the OPP has arrested and charged 44-year-old Anthony Edward RINGEL from Chesley Ontario with First Degree Murder.
The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton at 2:00 p.m. today.
