Another Scam Attempt

(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – On April 26th, 2012 at 12:42 pm, a resident from the Municipality of Kincardine reported a scam attempt to the South Bruce OPP. “Mega Millions Lotto” had called to advise the lucky “winner” of a $500,000 cash prize to be awarded. The money could be deposited immediately once some banking instructions were provided. This call was correctly identified as a scam and the phone was hung up. The South Bruce OPP is reminding residents to be very careful when dealing with unsolicited phone calls, emails, letters, faxes or visitors at your door. Cons and scams are a billion dollar business, so you need to catch them before they get your personal information, or banking information, so they can take your money.
