Annual Guelph Police Bicycle Ticket Program

The 17th Annual Guelph Police Bicycle Ticket Program began Friday May 1st, 2015 and will run until Wednesday August 5th, 2015.

This program is designed to promote awareness to Guelph youth of the benefits of wearing bicycle helmets while riding their bike through positive reinforcement. Children wearing their bike helmet may be stopped by officers and rewarded with a ticket for a free, Dairy Queen “Mini-Blizzard®” courtesy of Dairy Queen Guelph.

The child will then be eligible to win a free bike, courtesy of George Vettor Cycle on August 31st, 2015. The program is geared towards children aged 4-13 years old.

To date, the Guelph Police Service has issued over 17, 240 tickets to the youth in Guelph and given away 32 free bikes. Each year, a male and female winner is chosen.

Over the past 16 years, we have received phenomenal response from the community, parents and the respective youth with regard to this initiative.
