(Ashfield Colborne Wawanosh, ON) On October 11, 2009 at approximately 5:40 pm Huron OPP officers were sent to a two vehicle collision on Bluewater Highway north of Laurier Line. One northbound vehicle had allegedly struck another northbound vehicle causing both to lose control and crash.
Upon arrival at the scene, one officer spoke to one of the drivers involved in the collision. The officer immediately observed signs of impairment coming from the driver. While other officers dealt with the collision, the officer speaking to the driver formed the grounds that the man was impaired by alcohol and he was arrested. The driver was taken to the Huron OPP Detachment where he met with a qualified Intoxilizer Technician to provide two samples of his breath. The driver provided the required samples and the readings confirmed that he had over two times above the legal limit of alcohol in his system at the time of driving. As a result of the investigation, numerous charges have been laid on Andrew Dalton (25) of Goderich. Mr. Dalton will be returning to Goderich Court to answer to one count of Impaired Driving, one count of Drive With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol, two counts of Breach Probation as well as numerous Highway Traffic Act charges resulting from the collision investigation. There were no injuries in the collision.
