The Toronto Police Service Human Trafficking Enforcement Team, along with the Fugitive Squad and the British Columbia RCMP, have arrested a man in connection with a Human Trafficking investigation and Possession of Firearm investigation.
It is alleged that:
– a 19-year-old woman was recruited and forced into the sex trade
– she was coerced into the sex trade by a man who physical assaulted her
– over a period of three years, she was violently assaulted and the man would keep her earnings
On Monday, April 27, 2015, Andre Stubbs, 33, of Toronto, was arrested. He has been charged with:
1) two counts of Trafficking in Persons
2) two counts of Material Benefit
3) two counts of Procuring a Person to Become a Prostitute
4) two counts of Exercise Control
5) three counts of Assault
6) Overcome resistance by choking
7) Aggravated Assault
8) Assault with a Weapon
9) Forcible Confinement
10) Injuring an Animal
11) Fail to Comply Recognizance
Police believe there may be more victims.
Andre Stubbs was also arrested in relation to a Possession of Firearm investigation.
It is alleged that:
– a man was investigated in a motor vehicle
– a search warrant on the vehicle located a loaded firearm concealed within a hidden compartment in the vehicle
Andre Stubbs, 33, of Toronto, was arrested. He has been charged with:
1) Unauthorized possession of a firearm
2) Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
3) Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
4) two counts of Careless storage of a firearm
5) Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
6) three counts of Possession of ammunition contrary to prohibition order
7) Unauthorized possession of a prohibited device
He was scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Monday, April 27, 2015.
