(TOWN OF SAUGEEN SHORES, ON) – On August 3rd, 2012 at 11:58am, members of the South Bruce OPP were dispatched to a car versus ambulance crash on Highway 21 between Southampton and Port Elgin, Town of Saugeen Shores.
Investigation revealed that a Bruce County ambulance was heading Northbound on Highway 21 with emergency equipment activated (lights and sirens) while responding to call for service. While approaching several pulled over vehicles, a red Toyota Corolla which was facing north, turned left into the path of the ambulance.
The driver of the Toyota sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Grey Bruce Health Services – Southampton site for treatment.
The ambulance was not occupied by a patient. The two paramedics were not injured in the crash.
The Highway was closed for approximately two hours during the investigation, but has since re-opened.
Investigation is on-going.
