Amanda Cote – Drunk Driving

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Friday October 05, 2012, shortly after 2 a.m., a Perth County OPP officer on patrol in Listowel observed a car being driven erratically on Wallace Ave North.

The officer followed the north bound Honda Accord and observed it nearly driving into a curb. The officer initiated a traffic stop and checked on the condition of the female driver. While speaking with the driver, she displayed signs of impairment. She was arrested and transported to the Palmerston OPP Detachment where she failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests.

Amanda COTE (30), from Palmerston was charged with “impaired operation of a motor vehicle”, and with “operating a motor vehicle with over 80 mgs of blood alcohol”. She is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Listowel on November 28, 2012 to answer to these charges. She received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and her vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The motoring public is reminded that the Perth County OPP will be actively focusing on impaired driving, aggressive driving, distracted driving, and improper or lack of seatbelt use this Thanksgiving weekend as part of the Canada wide “Operation Impact”.
