(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A 60 year old male is facing a charge of Drive While Under Suspension following a traffic stop yesterday morning. Just before noon hour a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was patrolling northbound on Bluewater Veteran’s Highway when she encountered a Volvo wagon travelling southbound. The cruiser, equipped with an Automatic Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) computer device sounded an alert after the licence plate was captured by the onboard camera. The ALPR identified the attached licence plate as being registered to a suspended driver.
A traffic stop was initiated and it was confirmed the driver held a suspended driver’s licence. As a result, 60 year old Craig ALLEN from Newmarket was charged with Drive While Under Suspension. He will have to attend Provincial Offences Court in Goderich on September 2, 2014 to answer to the charge.
